– We are reaching out to the Social Democrats and urging collaboration to take joint responsibility for Skellefteå’s future. It’s time to think creatively and break free from traditional patterns to confront the difficult situation we’re facing, Löwenhöök (M) states.
The program includes proposals for transition support for those laid off, aimed at swiftly helping them find new jobs. The Moderate party suggest transforming the municipality’s recruitment project into a transition initiative and launching the ”Skellefteå Promise,” which would foster close collaboration between the municipality and local companies to offer training and job matching. To further strengthen the business climate, the Moderate party propose expediting local building and infrastructure projects and introducing transition checks for businesses, similar to those used during the pandemic.
The Moderate party are also advocating for national actions, including state funding for the Norrbotniabanan rail line and an E4 bypass, as well as extended work permits for foreign workers. Löwenhöök emphasizes that cooperation between local and national levels is critical to bolster Skellefteå’s future role in Sweden’s green transition.
The program will now be submitted to the municipal executive committee for further consideration.
